Romania's Annual Inflation Eases to 4.9% in June
Romania's consumer prices rose by 4.9% year-on-year in June, following a 5.1% annual increase in May, according to the country's statistical office, INS, on Thursday. The average annual inflation rate over the past 12 months was 7.2%.
In June, the prices of services saw an annual increase of 8.81%, while food and non-food prices rose by 6.28% and 1.1% year-on-year, respectively. Month-on-month, Romania's consumer price index (CPI) edged up by 0.24%, with services and non-food goods prices increasing by 0.4% and 0.52%, respectively. Conversely, food prices slightly decreased by 0.24% compared to the previous month.
On July 5, Romania's central bank announced its decision to cut the monetary policy rate from 7% to 6.75%, effective July 8. This move aims to support economic stability and manage inflationary pressures.
