Olivier Giroud has now outscored Cristiano Ronaldo in 2015

Olivier Giroud’s two goals against Newcastle United on Saturday not only helped Arsenal secure their sixth straight Premier League win, but the brace also ensured the striker went past Cristiano Ronaldo in the scoring charts for this year.

Giroud netted twice in four minutes in Newcastle to set the Gunners on their way to a 2-1 victory despite Moussa Sissoko’s second-half goal.

The Frenchman’s two strikes on Saturday took his goal tally in 2015 to 11 in all competitions for Arsenal – two more than Cristiano Ronaldo, who has netted nine times for Real Madrid so far this year.

Still, the Ballon d’Or winner does have Real’s El Clasico clash against Barcelona on Sunday to catch up with Giroud…
