Mario Balotelli avoids red card v Manchester United after Liverpool fans hold him back

Mario Balotelli needs no help getting into trouble, but he has had some help getting out of it.

The controversial Liverpool striker came off the bench against Manchester United with the Reds 2-0 down, but quickly got wound up.

He first got booked after clattering Phil Jones, and was then involved in an ugly incident at the side of the pitch with Chris Smalling.

But just as Balotelli looked like he was going to storm over and cause a fight, some Liverpool fans reached over and held the Italian back. Stunning.

It worked, with Mario avoiding getting that second yellow card.
