Jeremy Clarkson fired: Top Gear fans threaten not to pay their TV licence after host is dropped

Top Gear fans on Twitter are not happy about Jeremy Clarkson being dropped.

The BBC decided not to renew Clarkson’s contract following his altercation with producer Oisin Tymon earlier this month.

BBC Director General Tony Hall said in a statement: ‘It is with great regret that I have told Jeremy Clarkson today that the BBC will not be renewing his contract.

‘It is not a decision I have taken lightly. I have done so only after a very careful consideration of the facts and after personally meeting both Jeremy and Oisin Tymon.’

Fans of both Clarkson and Top Gear of course didn’t hold back on Twitter after the news broke.

Many threatened to stop paying their TV licence (perhaps they’re not worried about the possible consequences) while others put the decision down to ‘political correctness’.

Glamour model Rhian Sugden tweeted: ‘Noooo as IF @JeremyClarkson has been sacked for being #hangry!!! Genuinely gutted!’

MP Louise Mensch wrote: ‘Britain has got so pathetically wimpy.

‘When I was a kid two blokes would have taken it outside and brushed it off.’
