Beat the egg. In a saucepan, bring to a boil 1 ½ cup water. Add rice when the water boils. Turn heat to low, cover with a lid and simmer for 20 minutes.
Put 1 ½ boiled rice and 1 ½ cups milk together with the salt and sugar, turn heat to medium and start cooking until the mixture thickens. This will take up to 20 minutes. Add the last ½ cup milk, raisins and the beaten egg. Stir and cook for 2 more minutes. Add butter and vanilla extract. Stir well.
