$2 million for electoral address change campaign
Between April 14 and May 14, the CNE will install mobile brigades in the country's 24 provinces to access the service. The procedure is free.
The Ministry of Finance assigned the National Electoral Council ( CNE ) 2 million dollars to start the mobile campaign to change the electoral address , which will be activated from April 14, 2022.
Diana Atamaint, president of the CNE, made the announcement at a public event, and stressed that this will be the first activity as established in the electoral calendar approved last year.
The change of address procedure will allow, for example, those who have changed their place of residence to vote next year in an area close to where they currently live. And, in this way, they can choose the representatives that correspond to them.
“The allocation of new resources is still pending to start the contracting processes for the products and services we need to prepare for the elections. We understand that the country is going through an economic crisis , but we cannot lose sight of the fact that if we want a transparent process and with the results that citizens expect, we need to comply with each of the planned activities,” said the official.
