8 Oils to incorporate into your skincare routine this season

Winters can be a difficult time for your skin, at times the more products you apply the more difficult it gets to take care of it. I feel during winter the thing that works best for all skin types is oils, and better to stay clear of chemical-laden creams and lotions for your skin. With the winter season at its peak, it can strip your skin of all the natural oil and make your skin dry and dull, it is better to turn towards oil in specific seasons and certain skin care troubles, suggests Dr. Blossom Kochhar, Chairperson, Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies.

And let us clear a myth here, those who have oily skin feel that applying oil to their skin will make it oilier than you are wrong, there are a number of oils in the market made especially for oily skin and they can make your skin hydrated and glowing.

Coconut oil has immense benefits for the skin. From moisturizing to healing, this one does it all. Though it freezes in the winter season, taking a spoonful and heating it will not only help melt it, the warm oil will feel great on the skin or even on the hair. Use this as a post-shower moisturizer to ensure that your entire body is moisturized, and the oils stripped from the skin due to the hot shower and winters are restored.
Collected from the fresh flowering tops of lavender, lavender oil may be especially beneficial for those with acne and general skin irritation. It helps control sebum production, soothes irritation, and is a natural antiseptic and disinfectant. Lavender oil can also boost the performance of your other skin products.

Another essential oil that can do wonders for your skin in winter is tea tree oil. It has great anti-bacterial and anti-fungal qualities, hence ideal for fighting dry and itchy skin and inflammation. However, always use it diluted with a carrier oil like coconut, olive, or almond — 1 to 2 drops to 12 drops of carrier oil.

Pure olive oil, particularly extra-virgin olive oil, is fairly nutritious and is popular as face oil, mainly to soften the skin and provide nourishment. Olive oil contains many vitamins and minerals, is an all-around natural moisturizer, and is recommended by dermatologists for dehydrated skin, particularly in winter. Olive oil can be used as moisturizer during Winter to treat the troublesome areas of our body as they get very dry and flaky. Massage oil on partially damp skin to keep flakiness at bay.
Add some lemon juice to the oil to get rid of itchy skin in extremely dry conditions. Read More…
