How do I make the most climate-friendly choices possible when decorating the living room?
»Think about whether you really need to shop. Can you buy second hand? After that, the best choice is to buy recycled material.«
How do I choose a climate-smart sofa?
»Look for sofas with an external frame made of better quality solid wood. They have less padding and upholstery, are easy to maintain and if something breaks, it is easier to fix than an upholstered sofa. Buy a sofa designed by a trained designer. Then you get a good seat angle and seat height according to your body measurements, and the chance that you will keep the sofa for many years increases.«
What materials should I look for in interior design?
»Bamboo is close to greenhouse gas neutral, cork as well. Solid wood produces fairly low carbon dioxide emissions. Look for recycled materials and make sure the surface is maintainable, for example with oil or wax. When it comes to textiles, recycled is best. If you buy plant material, the fast-growing types of grass such as hemp are good. Linen is better than cotton but both require processing. Preferably choose materials that are as clean as possible, if the textile fibers are mixed, they are more difficult to recycle and reuse.«
What would you like to see in our living rooms this autumn?
»Things that last a long time. Natural colors and undyed textiles that have escaped dye.«

What do you not want to see?
»Large new leather sofas and plastic tables in virgin plastic.«
