Adria Arjona's Guide to Depuffing Skin Care and Subtle Contour

“My beauty journey has been an interesting one,” says actor Adria Arjona. “When I started doing the research and getting tested [at the dermatologist] instead of just buying a bunch of products, I started discovering what worked better for me.” Her routine begins with what she calls “an old drag queen secret” musing that it might be her most controversial beauty tactic of them all: dotting Preparation H under her eyes to depuff when filming or after a long flight.
Combatting puffiness is a central part of her routine: next, she places moisturizing gel patches by Peter Thomas Roth under her eyes while massaging an ice cube across the skin—a trick she learned from her mother. “This closes my pores, wakes me up, and gives me a little contour.”
Now, the 30-year-old is ready to double cleanse: “The balm [I use] has a lot of oil; with the cleansing milk I sort of get rid of all that oil but I'm still hydrating my skin,” she explains. Arjona, who stars in the upcoming Star Wars: Andor series and Father of the Bride remake, treats her lips with a Fenty Beauty scrub and Kosas gloss before sweeping two serums atop her face. “I have a little bit of sun damage and hyperpigmentation…vitamin C really helps with that. That is one thing that I make sure I don't skip,” she says. After a dermatitis diagnosis, she's partial to clean ingredients and formulas for sensitive skin, finalizing her skin care with a NuFace treatment, sunscreen, and facial mist. “Just by doing that on its own, I feel better. It's almost like a meditation.”
Onto makeup, she concentrates foundation in the center of her face, dragging it out as she blends. “I don't go with foundation on top of my eye because I have a natural brown eyeshadow,” she notes. For brows, she relies on a Kosas pencil and Oribe hair gel—multi-use products particularly come in handy when traveling.
In lieu of a sculpted contour, Arjona opts for a subtle shaping of the cheekbone, blending up towards her hairline and relying on four bronzed pigments which she also applies atop her eyelids. Her makeup is complete with a smokey wing liner, mascara, highlighter, and a smudged mauve lip. Hair oil, texture spray, and a spritz of Armani Beauty's My Way Intense perfume set her on her way. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Mexico, Arjona is proud of her heritage—leaving us with a thoughtful nugget: “Can we stop being surprised by Latin American women working in Hollywood?”
