“Ainboâ€: Peruvian film was recognized as Best Animated Film at the 2022 Platinum Awards
The national production directed by the Peruvian José Zelada and the Dutch Richard Claus prevailed in this category after competing with “Bob Cuspe: Nós Não we like people” from Brazil, “Salvar el Árbol (Zutik!)” and “Valentina”, these last two Spanish tapes.
“First movie I do. I am not an animation director per se, but it was a spectacular challenge to be able to tell, through this film, the life of a wonderful country like Peru; the life of the Amazonhe pointed Jose Zelada director of the feature film, when going on stage.
The filmmaker also took a few minutes to dedicate this award to his mother, the inspiring muse of the film, and also highlighted his origins in the Shipibo-Conibo tribe.
“I dedicate this to my mother, to Sandra, she is a native of Amazonas. She is Ainbo. She inspired me to care, she taught us to live, to walk, to feel the jungle. And she also dedicated it to those brave men, women and children of the Amazonian tribes, especially the Shipibo-Conibo tribe, where we are from; that every day they have to fight and see how they lose part of the paradise where they live because of illegal mining. It was, truly, a challenge and an honor to be able (…) to give them a message, truly, of what the Amazon is and for them to get to know our land through this film. Thank you very much”, he added.
