Akapellah Unveils New Album at LAMC in New York
Venezuelan rapper Pedro Elías Aquino, widely known as Akapellah, recently presented his latest album, Pedro Elías, at the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) in New York, United States. The 32-year-old artist has been a significant figure in Latin American neighborhoods and has gained recognition in the United States and Europe for over a decade. His musical journey has led to six Latin Grammy nominations.
“With my music, I prefer to tell my story. I rap about who I am, without selling a political ideology or the typical image of the gangster. Rappers are stigmatized, I was never a thug or had weapons,” Akapellah shared with the EFE news agency.
A Creative Whirlwind
Akapellah is renowned for his diverse style, effortlessly blending classic rap, melodic rhythms, and socially conscious lyrics. Behind his tattoos and American rapper aesthetic lies an artist who has successfully merged various musical influences in his new album, creating what he describes as “a roller coaster of emotions.”
“It’s my most honest version of Akapellah in these last 15 years. There’s no embellishment, I just flowed and that’s why so many sounds come out. The name even came to me at the end, I thought: ‘What better than Pedro Elías?’” Akapellah revealed.
Star-Studded Collaborations
The album, which features 13 tracks, includes collaborations with renowned artists across different genres and regions. Among the notable contributors are Cuban artist AL2 El Aldeano, Chilean group Movimiento Original, Mexican urban figure Gera MX, and Spaniards Nach and Fernandocosta from different generations. The album also features Colombian artist Ryan Castro and producer Afromak.
Akapellah’s latest work not only showcases his versatility and authenticity but also highlights his ability to connect with a diverse array of musical talents, making Pedro Elías a standout project in his illustrious career.
