Angola: Education Sector Reports an Increase of 168 Inclusive Special Education Rooms

Angolan Education minister Luisa Grilo has stressed the increase of 168 inclusive special education rooms, from 775 to 938 in the 2018/2022 period.
The incumbent minister, who was speaking Monday in the municipality of Belas, in Luanda province, said currently, special education operates in the country's 18 provinces, with 42,586 students, 22 special schools and 938 inclusive teaching rooms.
Addressing an opening ceremony of the fourth Consultative Council for the sector, the minister also highlighted the recruitment of 50,000 teachers, the promotion and updating of school textbooks and materials for pre-school and primary education, the acquisition of school and laboratory resources.
The training of teachers and the recovery of school delay, with emphasis on the empowerment of young girls, through the "learning for all" project, were other strengths of the sector in the last five years.
The expansion of adult secondary education in all provinces of the country, the School Reference Projects, the launch of the initiative "My family without illiteracy" and the holding of the regional forum to launch the medium-term strategy 2022-2025 of the International Bureau of UNESCO Education (BIE-UNESCO) and the implementation of the pilot national exams also received a positive note.
