Angola Retrieve 2nd Place in African Swimming
Angola's National Swimming Team demonstrated their prowess once again as they secured the second position in the Zone IV African Championship held in Luanda last Saturday. With a remarkable total of 2355 points, they replicated their achievement from 2015. After a gap of eight years, the national team clinched the silver medal on home turf.
The Angolan swimmers displayed their exceptional skills by securing the second position in both the men's (1199 points) and women's (1156 points) events, falling short only to their neighboring country, Namibia, who accumulated a total of 2757 points. Mozambique claimed the third spot with 2068 points, while South Africa, the reigning champion, settled for fourth place with 1598 points.
In terms of medals, the Angolan national team outperformed their previous record from 2015, winning a remarkable total of 74 medals, including 30 gold, 24 silver, and 20 bronze. This marked a significant improvement over the 61 medals they won in the previous edition, consisting of 22 gold, 21 silver, and 18 bronze medals. Meanwhile, Namibia secured the top spot in the medal tally with a total of 117 medals, comprising 45 gold, 36 silver, and 36 bronze.
