ARP: Announcement of Parliamentary Bloc Composition Will be Revealed on Thursday
On Thursday, May 11, 2023, the parliamentary session will convene to unveil the composition of parliamentary blocs and non-affiliated groups, as well as their respective responsibilities within the Assembly's office. This unveiling adheres to the regulations outlined in Article 14 of the parliamentary rules of procedure.
Prior to the May 10, 2023 deadline for filing declarations of formation, a total of five parliamentary blocs have already been established within the Parliament. As per Article 15 of the ARP's rules of procedure, which was approved during the plenary session on April 29, 2023, a minimum of fifteen deputies is required to form a parliamentary bloc.
Significantly, Article 16 permits any group consisting of 15 or more deputies to establish a bloc. However, it explicitly prohibits political parties and coalitions from forming multiple parliamentary groups. Moreover, an MP is restricted from joining more than one parliamentary bloc, as stated in the same article. In the event that a deputy withdraws from a parliamentary bloc during the ongoing session, Article 17 specifies that they will be ineligible to join any other group.
In addition, Article 20 addresses the dissolution of a parliamentary group if the number of its members falls below ten deputies.
