Asinde drops career-high 27 points on Tulsa
Jane Asinde had a career night to power Wichita State Shockers to an 84-68 win over Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Koch Arena on Wednesday.
The Ugandan power forward poured in a career-high 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to go with 3 assists and 2 steals as the Shockers snapped a four-game losing streak versus Tulsa. This is Asinde’s tenth double-double of the season.
Asinde started the game slow making just a single field goal in the opening ten minutes but got better in every quarter. After a 2-of-8 shooting from the field in the first half, the 6’1″ forward turned up in the second half, going 3-of-5 in the 3rd frame and a perfect 5-of-5 in the last quarter.
“I felt like I could drive more because I had a small guard on me. I took that as an advantage to take the ball to the basket,” Asinde said of her fourth-quarter performance.
Shockers led by four (17-13) at the end of the first quarter and had a comfortable 12-point (40-38) lead at halftime. However, the Golden Hurricane outscored the Shockers by 8 in the third quarter and cut the deficit to just four points (56-52) going into the final period. Read More…
