Authentic Bublanina Recipe
Fresh, juicy summer fruits and berries enveloped in a soft sponge cake — that, in short, is bublanina, a typical Czech dessert which can also be found in Slovakia. This simple dessert is prepared by mixing wheat flour, sugar, eggs, butter or oil, and baking powder into a batter, which can also contain vanilla sugar or vanilla extract, lemon zest, and milk. The batter preparation method varies greatly from one recipe to another. For instance, all the ingredients can simply be mixed in one bowl; the more advanced recipes suggest mixing the dry ingredients first, and then adding the wet ones; while some call for whipping the egg whites into a firm snow, which is then folded into the batter to make it fluffier.
