During his six-day stay, Perillo presented different opportunities for the Club to become the protagonist of driving courses and seminars/workshops on the implementation of certified motorbike helmets.
The training responded to the growing need to promote existing programmes to reduce road traffic fatalities and for the Club to act as a leading actor in the field of road safety. It also had the objective of providing follow-up and support to some of the initiatives that the Club is currently undertaking, such as the SOAT Compulsory Insurance, advocacy activities through mass media with the widest reach among the country, and meetings with Guatemalan private sector and government, such as the National Institute of Forensic Sciences of Guatemala (INACIF), who were provided with information on the programmes implemented by the Club.
With the objective of creating a Business Council for Road Safety (CESVI), the ACG led a meeting with 12 executives from different industries to lay the ground and share common challenges and opportunities. Colombia's successful experience was also presented as a model to follow.
In addition, the ACG staff and Perillo were invited to participate in a motorbike driving course, provided by Probikers Academia de Motos. This course was an opportunity to consider potential collaboration in the field of road safety.
