Barrie gets New Art Installation on Lakeshore Drive
Barrie's waterfront is set to showcase a new temporary art installation, commissioned by the Rotary Club of Barrie in partnership with the city. The mosaic mural, titled Mother Nature, will enhance the former Trans Canada Trail Pavilion's aesthetic.
Artistic Vision and Collaboration
The design is inspired by Kempenfelt Bay, focusing on its importance as a habitat for wildlife and plants.
The mural is a collaboration between regionally based artists Angela Aujla and Meg Leslie. Aujla created the illustration, while Leslie crafted hand-formed and hand-glazed porcelain tiles to bring the artwork to life.
Installation Details
The mural will be installed at the former Trans Canada Trail Pavilion on the waterfront trail, located at Lakeshore Drive and Tiffin Street.
The installation process was supported by Barrie's parks planning department.
The unveiling of Mother Nature aims to beautify the area and celebrate the natural environment of Kempenfelt Bay, providing residents and visitors with a visually enriching experience along Barrie's scenic waterfront.
