Belarus Wins Mixed Relay at Russian Biathlon Championship
Belarusian athletes showcased their talent and teamwork by winning the Mixed Relay at the Russian Biathlon Championship held in Tyumen. The event featured 11 teams, including two quartets from Belarus, highlighting the competitive spirit and skill of the participants.
The Belarus-1 team, consisting of Kseniya Varabei, Maksim Varabei, Hanna Sola, and Pavel Belko, delivered an impressive performance throughout the relay. Kseniya Varabei started strong, completing the first leg in third position. Hanna Sola maintained the momentum, finishing her leg in the same position at the second exchange. Maksim Varabei then made a significant improvement, moving the team up to second place. Finally, Pavel Belko secured the victory by narrowly beating Kirill Streltsov from Moscow Oblast by just 0.3 seconds at the finish line.
The Belarus-2 team, which included Yelena Kulak, Irina Shakleina, Mikita Labastau, and Stsiapan Danilau, finished in sixth place, contributing to the overall success of Belarus in the championship.
In addition to the Mixed Relay victory, Belarus claimed a total of four medals at the Tyumen stage of the Russian Biathlon Championship. Dzinara Smolskaya excelled in the Women’s Super Sprint, winning gold, and also earned a bronze medal in the Single Mixed Relay alongside her husband, Anton Smolski. Furthermore, Ilya Auseyenka secured a silver medal in the Men’s Super Sprint, showcasing the depth of talent within the Belarusian biathlon team.
This successful outing not only highlights the athletes' dedication and skill but also reinforces Belarus's position in the competitive world of biathlon.
