Bitcoin Price Briefly Eclipses $29,000 Before Retreating
Cryptocurrency prices slid late Thursday following an early spike as they continue to shrug off Monday news that the Commodities Futures Trading Commission sued Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, and CEO Changpeng Zhao for trading violations. Bitcoin briefly eclipsed $29,000 before retreating.
The SEC sent Coinbase (COIN) a warning last Wednesday for potential securities violations.

Bitcoin hovered below $28,000 late Thursday after spiking as high as $29,173 during the day to mark its highest level since June 10. Bitcoin is up three of the past five days following the Binance lawsuit news. BTC is up 19.1% so far in March and on pace for its best month since January 2023 when it gained 38.7%. The world's largest cryptocurrency is up 69% so far this year.
Ethereum slid back near $1,785 Thursday afternoon from its intraday high of $1,828. ETH reached $1,858 last Thursday to mark its highest level since mid-August. The #2 crypto is up 7.8% so far this month and spiked 49% year-to-date. Read More…
