BTS’ Spring Day Celebrates 400 Weeks on MelOn’s Weekly Chart
BTS continues to cement its legacy as one of the biggest musical acts in the world. On October 16, their beloved track Spring Day achieved an unprecedented milestone, completing 400 consecutive weeks on MelOn’s Weekly Chart—the first song in history to do so. Released more than seven years ago in 2017, Spring Day has become a cultural phenomenon, marking the longest-charting song in South Korea's music history.
A Record-Breaking Journey
Currently sitting at No. 83 on MelOn Weekly, the song's longevity reflects its enduring popularity. Earlier this year, Spring Day also made headlines by surpassing 1 billion streams on MelOn, becoming the first and only song on the platform to reach this significant milestone.
Spring Day originally debuted as part of You Never Walk Alone, a reissue of BTS' 2016 studio album Wings. The track was released on February 13, 2017, with RM and SUGA leading the songwriting efforts. Known for its poignant lyrics and emotional depth, the song has become a fan-favorite, cherished for its tribute to the victims of the Seoul Ferry tragedy. The combination of a somber melody and the members' heartfelt delivery continues to resonate with listeners worldwide.
Beyond its chart success, Spring Day also earned Song of the Year at the 9th MelOn Music Awards, further solidifying its place in BTS’ legendary discography.
BTS' Return in 2025 and Solo Projects
While Spring Day continues to make history, BTS is also preparing for a new chapter. The group's last release, Proof, dropped in 2022 before the members began mandatory military service.
Jin completed his enlistment in June 2023, and J-Hope is set to return on October 17, 2023. The remaining members will conclude their service by June 2025, when BTS plans to reunite with new music.
During this hiatus, the members have focused on solo careers, releasing individual projects. Jin is next in line with his debut solo album, Happy, as fans eagerly anticipate the group's full comeback in 2025.
The enduring success of Spring Day showcases BTS' unique ability to connect with audiences across time and borders. Even after seven years, the song remains a powerful testament to the group's artistry, resilience, and deep bond with their fans. As Spring Day continues to chart, it proves that BTS’ music isn’t just about breaking records—it’s about creating timeless art that stays close to the hearts of listeners.
