Cabaret Artist Dieter Nuhr Debuts Art Exhibition in Austria
Dieter Nuhr, renowned as a multi-award-winning cabaret artist and satirist, is set to showcase his artistic works in Vienna for the first time. The exhibition at the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien, titled "Dieter Nuhr: Somewhere Else Is Everywhere," will run from July 10 to August 4, 2024. This event marks the beginning of an international exhibition tour spanning ten locations worldwide until 2028.
At 63, Nuhr has successfully transitioned into the visual arts, garnering acclaim for his paintings, drawings, and photographs. Sponsored by the Brost Foundation, the exhibition features impressions from both the Ruhr area and distant countries, creating an engaging dialogue that offers a comprehensive insight into Nuhr's artistic journey.
"My works are essentially derived from my travels near and far, but also from what art history offers me as a quarry. In photographs and drawings, I process what I have discovered on my journey through life," Nuhr explains. "I see the world as my living space and try to explore it artistically, to record what I have seen and to add new things by preserving and using my memories. This creates an encyclopedia of my observation of the world. My pictures come from all parts of the world and mostly from my homeland, the Ruhr region."
Nuhr's works reflect his global experiences and his roots in the Ruhr region, blending these elements into a unique artistic narrative. The Vienna exhibition will offer visitors a chance to explore these diverse influences and Nuhr's perspective on the world.
Following its debut in Vienna, the exhibition will continue its international tour, bringing Nuhr's artistic vision to audiences around the globe.
