Cameroon : Campaign to end malaria launched

‘Stop Malaria‘ is the motto and objective of an advocacy campaign launched this Thursday by Cameroon’s ministry of Public Health. The kick-off of this campaign is given at the Yaounde conference center.
It brings together different stakeholders of the society in order to joint efforts to tackle malaria definitely. Statistics from Cameroon’s ministry of Public Health indicates that the country registered 3,863 deaths in 2021 caused by malaria.
Amidst invited actors are local leaders. The choice has been made on them in respect to their proximity with the remoted population. A population vulnerable and mostly affected by malaria.
They are urged to lead community operations and take concrete actions for an amelioration of their population’s health condition and for it to be sustained. The national campaign will last for one year and is said to reach all the ten regions of the country.
According to statistics, malaria highly touches children below 5 years old and pregnant women. One of the reasons for the implication of the ministry of women’s empowerment. Minister Marie Thérèse Abena Ondoa says this ‘Stop Malaria’ campaign will know an active participation of her department with alot of sensitization initiatives. Read More...
