Cameroon-Malaria: tackling sickness with households' intervention
The declaration was made during a round table organized at the Yaounde Conference center. Speaking were scientists, academicians and parliamentarians.
Some of them include Prof Rose Leke, Same Ekobo, Paul Koki Ndombo, Wilfried Mbacham, Carole Eboumbou, Jude Ateba, Elisabeth Mballa Valérie Etamba and Honorable Elise Pokossy.
Their discussion focused on the challenges and solutions that can be implemented so as to eradicate malaria.
An essential point highlighted as a measure is the involvement of households.
According to Prof Koki Ndombo, director of the Chantal Biya mother and child center, parents have to pay attention to early symptoms of Malaria when they appear in a child. This will help in preventing the disease from affecting other youths.
With the uprising of Malaria in our environment, they also underscored the necessity of relaunching mass sensitization, proximity communication. These tools must be unfolded around the respect of hygiene, the daily use of mosquito nets and calling on authorities to usually publish information related to the disease.
The sanitary personnel, especially those carrying research, public opinion leaders urged them to further go on with their research, and the other sanitary staff to be trained on patient’s care and the use of microscopes. Read More...
