Celebrating Ukrainian Classical Music in Warsaw
The Ukrainian Music Days Festival has kicked off in Warsaw, Poland, showcasing the rich and diverse world of Ukrainian classical music. The six-day event, running from September 8 to 13, aims to introduce Polish audiences to the beauty and complexity of Ukrainian compositions.
The festival features a range of performances, including the Chromatophonic Trio's rendition of Viktor Kosenko's Classical Piano Trio in D major, Op. 17, and Valentin Silvestrov's Drama. The Camerata Silesia choir will also perform 17th-century Ukrainian choral works, highlighting the country's rich musical heritage.
The festival's organizers, the Pro Musica Viva Foundation, have been promoting Ukrainian music in Poland for 25 years. The foundation's director, Roman Rewakowicz, emphasizes the importance of discovering and performing Ukrainian music, particularly in the current context, as Ukrainians fight to preserve their cultural heritage.
The festival is not only a celebration of Ukrainian classical music but also a testament to the country's resilience and determination to preserve its cultural identity. As Rewakowicz notes, the festival highlights the importance of cultural exchange and understanding, especially during times of conflict.
The Ukrainian Music Days Festival is a wonderful opportunity for music lovers to experience the beauty and diversity of Ukrainian classical music. With performances available to stream live on the Pro Musica Viva Foundation's YouTube channel, audiences around the world can join in the celebration.
