Chilean Army Enhances Border Operations with Outlander 650 All-Terrain Vehicle Training
The Chilean Army's 2nd Armored Hunter Brigade has conducted training on the use of Can-Am Outlander 650 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) to enhance their border operations. The training aimed to equip soldiers with the necessary skills to operate the ATVs in various terrains, including lowlands and high plateaus. The soldiers underwent theoretical training before applying their knowledge in practical scenarios, such as crossing watercourses and navigating steep terrain.
The Outlander 650 ATVs are intended for use in surveillance and protection tasks in the Colchane region, which is located at the northern border of Chile and holds strategic importance for the country. The use of these ATVs is expected to enhance the army's operational capabilities in the area.
The Can-Am Outlander 650 is a versatile and robust ATV designed for challenging terrains. It features a 649.6cc Rotax V-Twin engine that delivers 62 horsepower, a selectable 4x2/4x4 drivetrain, and a ground clearance of 11 inches. The vehicle also has a towing capacity of up to 1,650 lbs and is equipped with dynamic power steering and a suspension system that ensures stability and comfort over uneven terrain.
The training is part of the Chilean Army's efforts to adapt to the demands of its missions in complex environments and to maximize the efficiency and mobility of its units on the ground. The use of the Outlander 650 ATVs is expected to provide the army with a more effective and efficient way to conduct border operations and protect the country's strategic interests.
