Consumer prices are on the rise again
The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (Ihpc) for the month of August rose by 2.2% compared to that of the previous month. This change is mainly due to the rise in consumer prices for “food and non-alcoholic beverages” (+3.4%), “communication” services (+4.0%), “restaurants and hotels” ( +2.2%), “leisure and culture” (+0.8%) and “transport” (+0.7%).
Compared to August 2021, consumer prices increased by 11.3%. Core inflation rose by 1.1% month on month and by 7.7% compared to August 2021.
According to the origin, the prices of local and imported products increased by 2.2% and 1.6% respectively in August 2022, compared to the previous month. In annual variation, they increased, respectively, by 12.8% and 7.3%. Read More…
