COVID-19: Morocco's Epidemiological Condition is Stable, Under Control
Mouad Mrabet, the coordinator of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection's National Center for Public Emergency Operations, confirmed on Sunday that the epidemiological situation (COVID-19) in Morocco is still stable and under control.
For the second week in a row, there was a slight increase in cases and a positive weekly rate, with 75 more cases reported this week compared to the previous one, commented Mrabet in a post he shared on LinkedIn.
He noted that the weekly positive rate has risen to 1.3% this week, up from 1% the previous week. This week, regional variability ranged from 0%t in Guelmim-Oued Noun to 3.5% in Casablanca-Settat, Mrabet added.
During the community transmission phase in Morocco, new cases of severe COVID-19 symptoms and mortality continued to decline, he pointed out, noting that 16 additional admissions to intensive care units were reported for every 26 discharges following clinical improvement, resulting in just three fatalities.
According to Mrabet, the following two weeks will offer greater clarity on the progression of the virus’ circulation in Morocco. He emphasized the urgency of redoubling vigilance and observing the usual preventive measures in high-risk scenarios, such as large gatherings in closed (Tarawih prayers, public offices, public transportation, stadiums, etc.).
