Delta Air Lines Named Official Airline of the WNBA
Delta Air Lines has been named the official airline of the WNBA, strengthening its relationship with the league through a new partnership. This collaboration builds on Delta's existing role in providing charter services for the WNBA and is part of the airline's broader initiative to support women’s athletics.
Under this agreement, Delta will work with the WNBA to create unique content that highlights the journeys of the league's athletes while showcasing Delta’s commitment to offering an elevated travel experience. Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed pride in partnering with the WNBA, emphasizing the shared values of teamwork and perseverance that both the airline and the league embody. Bastian also noted Delta's excitement in supporting the athletes throughout their seasons.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert highlighted Delta’s dedication to excellence and innovation, praising the airline's role in uplifting and empowering women’s sports. Engelbert emphasized that the partnership would not only enhance the travel experience for WNBA players but also contribute to the growth and visibility of women’s sports. With Delta’s support, she stated, the WNBA is poised to reach new heights and engage more deeply with fans.
Earlier this season, Delta expanded its charter program for the WNBA, which now includes carrying all 12 league teams throughout the regular season and playoffs. As the official airline, Delta plans to use storytelling opportunities across various WNBA media platforms, including broadcast, digital, print, and social media. This collaboration also offers Delta the chance to share the off-the-court travel stories of WNBA players through its own digital and social channels.
This partnership aligns with Delta’s ongoing efforts to support and invest in women’s sports. The airline recently expanded its presence in women’s golf, became the official airline of the National Women’s Soccer League, and continues to support women athletes as the official airline of Team USA for several upcoming Olympic Games, including Paris 2024 and LA28.
As the Official Airline of Champions, Delta has a long history of flying championship teams, including the 2023 WNBA Champions, the Las Vegas Aces. This new partnership with the WNBA further solidifies Delta’s commitment to women’s sports and its role in helping athletes achieve success both on and off the court.
