Designing With Green
Our long term social media friends will have noticed we love using it in our designs. It’s a versatile colour that looks stunning on kitchen cabinets and in bathrooms, as backdrop in bedrooms and as a standout feature where you need it. And yet many people still struggle to include this ‘neutral’ colour in their home.
Today we’re here to help you. These are our top tips for designing with green.
All the Shades of Green
The great thing about green is that all shades of green work beautifully with each other, so you don’t need to be afraid to mix different greens together in once space. In fact, we love a colour blocking exercise.
Combining different tones of green makes a space feel both serene and energised. It’s no wonder green is the colour of choice in many spa settings. We love to start with a mid to deep based hue, to be used as our base. You can then go either way (or both) with your accent colours. A deep heritage green is ideal for a winter setting, invoking a sense of luxuriousness and cosiness. For warmer, summer months, we love to offset the darker setting with a lighter, mint tones – especially a stripe option – for a fun, summery feel.
Light Greens, like our favourite Sage, are a great alternative to more typical neutrals, working well with a wide range of decorating styles, accent colours, wood tones and metal finishes. Light green should be the main shade accompanied by neutral or earthy tones. for a vintage, cozy and relaxing ambiance. Pure, straight-forward colors such as black and white provide strong contrast for modern spaces.

Bright greens evoke a sense of richness and elegance in a space. Use this colour on its own to create a feature statement, or mix it with other jewel tones like deep blues and shimmery golds. Splashes of white and bright colours prevent the space from becoming dark and dreary.
