Dhaka stocks fall in early trade
Dhaka stocks declined in the opening trade today amid low participation of investors.
The DSEX, the benchmark index at the DSE, fell 21.68 points or 0.32 per cent to 6,732.08 until 12.10 pm today from yesterday's close of 6,753.7.
Turnover, a barometer of liquidity flow in the market, was Tk 350 crore until midday, which was 43 per cent of total turnover of the previous day's Tk 801 crore.
Until 12.10 pm, shares of 106 companies advanced with British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company (BATBC) gaining 0.40 per cent to Tk 583 at 12.18 pm after it disclosed its board decision to invest at the Savar site factory.
The company wants to invest Tk 574.20 crore at the factory to cater the upcoming exports opportunities and create contingency capacity.
"The investment will be funded from internal sources and bank financing based on cash flow of the company," said BATBC in a filing at the DSE. Read More...
