Drones are saving more fawns than ever before
This spring, numerous hunters and farmers with drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras went on a mission to save fawns from being killed by the mower. Such a mission has already taken place for the fourth time in Graubünden.
As the canton announced on Tuesday, 552 newborn fawns were found in this way. That is around 85 more than in the previous year – although this was already a record year. A total of around 1720 missions were flown in 2022 from the end of May to the beginning of July. That is around 400 more missions than in 2021.

Rescue should be further expanded
As the canton goes on to write, these operations could only be carried out thanks to 190 drone pilots. They were always out and about in almost all regions of Graubünden early in the morning or late in the evening. 24 drones were in action on each mowing day. Read More…
