EE Launches UK's First Broadband Package Designed for Gamers
EE has introduced a new home connectivity bundle specifically designed for gamers, named "EE Broadband Made for Gamers." This package offers the UK's fastest widely available download speeds and includes a Game Mode to optimize in-home WiFi connections, ensuring a superior gaming experience.
The launch of this bundle is part of EE's effort to become the UK's top destination for gaming. It was developed in collaboration with the BT R&D teams at Adastral Park, who brought their expertise to create a package that meets the specific needs of gamers.
According to recent research, 88% of gamers believe that fast and reliable broadband speed is crucial for performing well in games, while 80% have experienced poor broadband quality that negatively impacted their performance in the past month. Additionally, 38% of British gamers feel limited to gaming in one area of their home due to slow broadband speeds, with 50% wanting to be able to game in more rooms.
EE Broadband Made for Gamers features Full Fibre, the UK's most reliable broadband technology, which delivers download speeds of over 1.6 Gbps into customer homes. This results in a latency reduction of over a third compared to standard broadband. With these speeds, gamers can download large game updates, such as Call of Duty, in under two minutes.
The package also includes EE's advanced Smart Hub Plus router, which features Game Mode. This mode prioritizes online gaming traffic to provide an optimal experience and works with many popular online gaming sites. Game Mode also includes:
-Geo Filter, which selects the highest quality servers and blocks those with increased lag for better gameplay
-Ping Optimiser, which reduces server ping by up to 24% according to tests by Netduma
The bundle also comes with Smart WiFi, which helps provide a strong signal in hard-to-reach areas of the home, allowing gamers to create their ideal gaming setup. Additionally, customers will receive 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, giving them access to hundreds of great games.
Sam Kemp, Director of Gaming at EE, commented: "With Broadband Made for Gamers, we're taking a huge step towards becoming the UK's number one destination for gaming. Our package is specifically designed to enhance the gaming experience, with features like Game Mode and 1.6Gbps Full Fibre speeds giving gamers a competitive edge. Plus, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, customers will have access to a vast library of games."
To test the bundle, EE assembled two of the UK's fastest bedroom gamers, Dan Riley and Josh Edwards, who used the package to set four new speedrunning world records for GRID™ Legends's Brands Hatch tracks. This demonstrates the game-changing capabilities of EE's Broadband Made for Gamers.
