The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) recently revealed that Facebook holds the top position as the most widely used social network among Tanzanian citizens.
According to the TCRA's Q1 report, which covers the period from January to March 2023, Facebook dominated the bandwidth usage in terms of Gigabytes (GB).

During this timeframe, Tanzanians consumed a staggering 48.99 million GBs while browsing through Facebook, as stated in the TCRA dossier. The report also highlights that Facebook surpassed other networks such as YouTube, which accounted for 35.96GB of bandwidth usage in Tanzania.
Notably, the report emphasizes the substantial impact of video streaming services on bandwidth consumption compared to other online services.
WhatsApp, TikTok, and Instagram are among the other leading social networks in the country, following Facebook. The regulatory authority emphasizes that the growing number of internet users in Tanzania serves as a catalyst for the expansion of the digital economy. Through the internet, users can access opportunities that contribute to enhancing their quality of life.
