Fashion illustrator at Delaware State News' W3 Fest
This month, bringing her artistic stylings to Kent County is a Delawarean who has traveled the world and inspired it with her creative vision and Instagram page. Fashion illustrator and creative director Dallas Shaw is the keynote speaker at the W3 What Women Want Fest, a day of friends, fashions and shopping.
This casual event returns to Wild Quail Golf & Country Club in Wyoming on Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The female-centric festival will include vendors, light refreshments, a complimentary signature cocktail from Wild Quail, a fashion show, door prizes and giveaways in a festive, relaxed atmosphere, all presented by the Delaware State News and sponsored by Hawkins & Associates at Merrill Lynch, Bella MediSpa, Dedicated to Women and Dover Federal Credit Union.
Besides enjoying the atmosphere, guests can visit and shop with vendors for fitness, fashion, jewelry, home decorating, beauty, art and more. This year’s signature cocktail is sangria provided by Wild Quail because they know that women enjoy sipping on a fruity and refreshing drink while spending time with their gal pals. A cash bar will also be available.
“Also, our ‘local celebrity’ models will light up the W3 runway during a fashion show, featuring the beautiful clothes from Talbots of Dover,” said Heather Cregar, Delaware State News director of marketing and promotions. “As in past years, our ‘celebrities’ are just a few of the local women who run our nonprofits and businesses and are truly a reflection of the words ‘Girl Power.’”
Guest speakers and demos will fill the day, including a YMCA Zumba demonstration and wellness discussion by Jessica Moyer of the Ice House: Wellness + Community.
Meanwhile, internationally known Ms. Shaw (who has worked with brands from Disney to Dior) looks forward to speaking honestly about life as an artist and entrepreneur.
“We’re taught to hustle, and all of that is great, until one day it’s not. So, taking the time for just some actual self-care and work balance [is crucial]… So when I’m speaking, that’s usually the personal message I’m talking about: how can we do all these amazing things and still have a life. I save all my hard truths for in-person meetings and speaking engagements [instead of picture-perfect social media], so people can get to know me more,” she said.
The Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity is this year’s charitable fundraising partner. They will share decorating ideas using items from the ReStore shop, inspiring guests to imagine their own new home design. Individuals can also ask about volunteering or request assistance to make their homeownership dreams come true. Read More...
