The forest areas in Hungary are constantly expanding and their quality is also improving, Péter Csépányi, deputy general manager of forestry and nature conservation of Pilisi ParkerdÅ‘ Zrt., told the weekly Christian-conservative Hungarian business magazine FigyelÅ‘.
In addition to oak types such as sessile, pedunculate, shrub, and fluffy oak, acacia and poplars are the most common tree species in Hungarian forests.
These cover more than two-thirds of Hungary's many woodlands, according to Central Statistical Office data from 2020, which show that roughly one-fifth of Hungary's approximately two million hectares of forest are under nature protection.
More than 1.1 million hectares of wood were used for timber production in 2020, but due to the sustainable forest management in Hungary, this was not accompanied by a decrease in area or quality deterioration that year either. Read More…
