Four dead bodies found scattered in the street in Mexico's Spring Break hotspot of Playa del Carmen
Crime scene photos that were leaked and picked up by local news outlet Quinto Poder showed two of the men lying next to each other on the road.
The other two victims were abandoned near a pile of garbage left strewn across the edge of a sidewalk lined with trees, close to where the government's Mayan Train project is underway.
The Quintana Roo State Office of the Attorney General said in a statement that none of the four victims had gunshot wounds. The names, ages and nationalities of the victims were note released.
A full autopsy will be done to determine the causes of death.

The shocking findings come as state authorities struggle to contain a wave of violence sparked by warring street-level gangs and drug cartels as thousands of international visitors, including U.S. college students, are flocking to the region for Spring Break.
At least 34.8% of foreign visitors to Mexico last year were from the United States, of which 17% vacationed in Quintana Roo, according to a report released by the Anahuac Tourism Competitiveness and Research Center on Wednesday.
About 1,500 National Guard servicemen were ordered deployed throughout the states resort towns to beef up security in December 2021.
