FvD appoints Van Meijeren as troublemaker between MPs and farmers
The situation surrounding the farmer's protests is in danger of getting completely out of hand. Farmers are demolishing the land, storming police blockades and intimidating politicians. That is why Forum for Democracy appoints a troublemaker who can escalate the situation even further: Gideon van Meijeren.
“What you see now is enormous dissatisfaction, hopelessness and unwillingness to add nuance to the nitrogen debate. MPs and farmers just don't talk to each other," explains FvD leader Thierry Baudet. “Gideon is pre-eminently someone who can throw some extra fuel on the fire between those parties.”
Van Meijeren himself has indicated that he is not unsympathetic to his new role. “In fact, of course, I have already started in that role, by promoting a degree of lawlessness. But of course it could always be worse. The situation is now completely untenable, but it could always be more untenable.
