Ghana Star Inaki Williams Misses First La Liga Match Since 2016 After 251 Consecutive Games
The Black Stars forward has played in 251 consecutive La Liga games for Athletic Club spanning over six years
Records come and go but that of Inaki Williams will take a while for it to be broken. The Ghanaian forward was forced to relinquish his incredible La Liga appearance record after missing Athletic Club’s tie against Celta Vigo through injury on Sunday, January 29.
According to Goal, Williams was forced to miss his first club match since 2016 due to physical discomfort, ending a run of 251 consecutive La Liga games for Athletic Bilbao.
The Black Stars forward broke the previous record for most consecutive appearances in October 2021, eclipsing the 202 made by Real Soceidad's Juanan Larranaga.
Williams who switched his allegiance to Ghana before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, last missed a La Liga game on April 7, 2016, when Athletic Bilbao played Malaga.
