Grand Egyptian Museum Recognized as One of the World’s Most Beautiful Museums for 2024
The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has been honored as one of the most beautiful museums in the world for 2024 by the Prix Versailles. This recognition was accepted by Egypt’s Ambassador to Paris and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Alaa Youssef, during a ceremony at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
In his address, Ambassador Youssef underscored the museum’s unique cultural significance, emphasizing its architectural design, which seamlessly integrates ancient Egyptian history with the heritage of the Giza Pyramids. He highlighted that the design embodies a modern artistic vision while utilizing advanced structural engineering techniques to promote environmental sustainability.
The ambassador also detailed the museum’s key features, noting that it is the largest museum globally dedicated to the artifacts of a single civilization—the Pharaonic civilization. He encouraged attendees to visit the museum, which is currently in a partial opening phase ahead of its official inauguration, to experience its unparalleled collection.
The Prix Versailles, established in 2015, is an international award that recognizes excellence in architecture. It honors structures such as museums, universities, and airports that exemplify originality, innovation, and environmental sustainability. The recognition of the Grand Egyptian Museum not only highlights its architectural beauty but also its importance as a cultural institution.
