Honorary award for Emil
The legendary Emil Steinberger (89) received the honorary award at this year's Swiss Comedy Awards.
He's more of a cabaret artist than a comedian, says Emil Steinberger (89). "Nevertheless, I am very pleased to accept this award." Every award is a gift. "Especially when it comes from the heart."
At the Swiss Comedy Awards on Saturday, September 10th, the legendary entertainer will be honored with the Lifetime Award in Zurich's Kongresshaus. "Emil stands for three generations of cabaret and has moved the whole nation with his wit and jokes for decades," explains organizer Lorenz Hauser (54). "Emil also managed what only a few Swiss were able to do," adds co-organizer Rik Krieger (44). "Namely to inspire a lot of people in Germany with his talent."
For Steinberger it is not the first award for his life's work: in 2003 he was awarded the rose of honor at the Rose d'Or. In 2010 he received the Swiss Lifetime Award in a large SRF gala. In 2021 he received the honorary award of the German cabaret prize.
And next year is likely to be even more turbulent. That's when Steinberger celebrates his 90th birthday. "There will be all sorts of things coming up," announces the soon-to-be jubilee cheerfully. «To this day I haven't lost the joy of 'desecrating' on a stage. And I hope that it will stay with me for as long as possible." His many fans hope so too. Read More…
