How to care for your skin in summer

Summer has arrived and there is nothing more attractive than enjoying beach holidays and summer picnics. Summer is a time when lemon sodas become your favourite option than hot tea. This season shows its impact on your skin. The red hot heat, humidity and environmental pollution drain off the natural glow and make you skin dull, oily and damaged.

Expert advice: Vitamin C serum is a powerful antioxidant that hydrates your skin and protects skin from damage. Include Vitamin C serum in your skincare regimen. You can also add vegetables, citrus fruits to your diet.

How Summer affects your skin:

The sebaceous glands activity increases as temperature and heat rise during the summer month. Humidity makes oily skin more oiler and dry skin becomes more rough and flaky. Sun emits UV rays that produce melanin pigments. Too much melanin results in dark and tanned skin. The heat can cause more open pores that can be clogged with oil, dirt and bacteria. This can cause acne marks, wrinkles, skin ageing and hyper pigmentation.

In this article, we will make you understand how to take care of your skin in summer.

Stay hydrated:

For healthy and glowing skin, stay hydrated inside and out. Drinking plenty of water helps your body to flush out all toxins from the blood and digestive system. This also helps to prevent itching, acne and other skin conditions. Drink four liters of water in one day. During summers, avoid dehydrating drinks such as alcohol. Drink fresh fruit juice, coconut water and lime sodas that help to nourish your skin.

Cleanse and Exfoliate:

Face cleansing is a basic skincare regimen. You should cleanse your face at least two times a day. It will wash away all impurities, dust, pollution that is sticking on your face.

Exfoliation increases blood circulation and eliminates dead skin cells from the outer layer. It improves skin appearance by removing dry skin. You can use face scrub 4-5 times a week to get a vibrant and brighter look. Choose a face that suits your skin. Don’t use harsh chemicals if your skin is acne-prone. Choose some soothing scrubs that contain fuller’s earth, Chandan, aloe Vera that make your skin soft and smooth.

Face toner:

Toners are formulated to remove dead skin cells, cleanse pore deeply and refines enlarged skin pores making them less prominent. So always use face toner after cleaning your face.

Moisturize well:

Summers are very humid, but still, your skin needs proper hydration. You can use moisturizers, essential oils and serum; they reduce inflammation, repair and hydrate skin. Moisturizer protects your skin from dust and chemicals that can damage the skin. Moisturizer locks water and natural oil in the skin and provides extra hydration to the face.

However, for the normal skin type, you can use a water-based moisturizer. Facial sprays and gel-based moisturizers are best for acne-prone and oily skin. Read More…
