How to Celebrate Valentine’s Day Alone Even Though You’re in a Relationship
Spending Valentine’s Day alone can be hard – especially when you cohabitate with your wonderful and caring life partner and they, like, already baked you a cake and everything. So, here are some ways you can show yourself some love and engage in some me-time this Valentine’s Day, even though you’re in a long-term, monogamous relationship.
Surprise your partner with breakfast in bed.
This is a great way to start the day off on a good note. Your partner will be so distracted by the delicious meal you cooked them that they won’t notice when you slip out of the bedroom, shimmy quietly out the window, and stroll down the street on your way to indulge in a day of no human contact and rampant existentialism – just like when you were single! Happy You-entine’s Day!
Plan an exciting activity for you two to do together.
The more exciting, the better! Your partner isn’t really the adrenaline junky type, so they’ll definitely be too afraid to partake in whatever activity you planned. Sky-diving and rock-climbing both work really well for this because you can say your reservation is non-refundable and get to spend the day doing an expensive, potentially life-threatening activity alone – and you deserve that! Plus, you’ll get to have the “Why’d you plan this? Don’t you even know me at all?” conversation which could either bring you and your partner closer together, or drive you irreparably apart – in which case, you’ll get to spend your subsequent Valentine’s Day alone too!
