How will 5G boost connectivity and business development in Peru?
5G technology significantly improves connectivity and allows its installation in remote and difficult-to-access areas that lack the necessary coverage to cover the service of devices and people, achieving real-time data transmission. These benefits, in the business field, drive the automation of industries, making them more flexible and innovate in their business models by having the possibility of using field sensors that determine, for example, the state of the machinery and evaluate if any require maintenance.
Minsait, an Indra company, has launched a proposal to accelerate the digital transformation of companies through the implementation of 5G private networks in these industrial environments. This solution ranges from the definition of the needs to be covered in the industry, to the management and supervision of the entire private network. In this way, the company has managed to integrate End to End solutions from different 5G providers, which it complements with its extensive experience in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning to develop a profitable model that benefits companies.
The benefits of 5G implementation
“The use of 5G technology allows the increase in data transmission speed from five to twenty times faster than 4G technology, therefore, it will be possible to have a greater number of devices connected simultaneously, use the internet in real time things and provide new use cases like telemedicine and autonomous vehicles. Likewise, it enables the greater use of streaming in the entertainment, videogames and education sectors”, stated José Luis Ruiz, Indra's Commercial Director of Telco & Media in Peru.
“5G will accelerate the digital transformation in many sectors, such as the industrial sector, promoting what is called industry 4.0, that is, it will allow the implementation of solutions focused on interconnectivity, automation and data in real time. With these competitive advantages, companies can create new business models”, pointed out José Luis.
In Peru, although this network is not fully implemented, in 2021 the use of 4G networks was authorized to launch a partial 5G version. It is estimated that when all the capacity can be deployed, an investment of more than 500 million dollars per operator will be made to guarantee its optimal operation. Other countries in the region, such as Chile, have already implemented this technology. According to the Telecommunications Undersecretary of the neighboring country, in just one year they have obtained 2 million customers who use 5G. Read More…
