Hungarian Developed VR Space Cabin Unveiled
Budapest witnessed the presentation of the first fully Hungarian-developed VR space cabin, named SpaceBuzz-HU, which is equipped with cutting-edge virtual reality technology. This innovative cabin is designed to offer virtual space travel experiences and will be provided free-of-charge to Hungarian schools. The initiative is part of an educational scheme aimed at highlighting the planet's vulnerability and the importance of environmental protection.
Orsolya Ferencz, the ministerial commissioner in charge of space research at the foreign ministry, emphasized that SpaceBuzz-HU will allow students to experience the operation of the International Space Station. The educational scheme seeks to engage students' interest in nature, environmental protection, natural sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Government Support and Project Funding
The Hungarian government, through the ministry, has supported the project with a funding of 9 million forints (approximately EUR 23,000).
István Zentai, the board chairman of the SpaceBuzz Hungary foundation, announced that the first VR space cabin, with the capacity to host 12 people, is expected to be completed by the first half of 2025. This timeline aligns with the scheduled space travel of Hungarian astronaut Tibor Kapu.
The introduction of SpaceBuzz-HU marks a significant step in using advanced technology to foster educational and environmental awareness among Hungarian students. The project promises to bring a unique, immersive learning experience that could inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and environmentalists.
