Improvement of ICT indicators in Tunisia
According to national data as well as international assessments, the indicators of the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) sector in Tunisia have improved, although certain aspects in particular are still lagging behind.
Recent statistics published in June 2022 by the Ministry of Communication Technologies and the Digital Economy showed that the number of subscriptions to the fixed and mobile telephone network increased to 17 million 144 thousand against 15 and a half million in 2017. This figure was on the other hand 17 million 304 thousand in 2021.
The total fixed and mobile telephone density (telephone line per 100 inhabitants) rose to 144.8 while for mobile more particularly, it rose to 130.3.
Regarding the Internet and Computing, the international bandwidth capacity of the Internet has increased to 1210 Gb/s, compared to 1110 Gb/s in 2021.
The shortcomings are at the level of fixed Internet penetration despite the generalization of infrastructure coverage.
Thus, the total number of subscriptions to the Internet network reached 11 million 286 thousand, of which 14% for fixed Internet and 86% for mobile Internet.
Ditto, with regard to the dissemination of electronic signatures, marking the extent of digital trust. The number of valid electronic signature certificates increased to 25 thousand 693. That of e-commerce sites using e-dinar reached 340 in 2021. Read More…
