International Folk Dance and Music Festival “Ohrid Spring Festival”
The Ohrid Spring Festival is an exciting celebration of culture, dance, and music, bringing together diverse groups from around the world. The festival will take place from April 25 – 28, 2025 at Ohrid, Macedonia.
This festival provides a unique opportunity for participants to express their national identities through traditional dances, music, and vibrant costumes. Set against the stunning backdrop of Ohrid and its UNESCO-protected lake, the festival aims to foster international dialogue and cooperation while showcasing the rich cultural traditions of various countries.
Ohrid, known as the "Pearl of the Balkans," has a rich history dating back to 879 AD. It served as the capital of Samoil’s medieval Macedonian state and was the seat of the Ohrid Patriarchate from 990 to 1018. Today, it stands as a testament to the blend of tradition and modernity, making it an ideal host for this international gathering.
The festival not only highlights the artistic talents of participating groups but also encourages the establishment of friendships and cultural exchange among attendees. Participants will have the chance to explore the beauty of Ohrid, renowned for its 365 churches—one for each day of the year—and its designation as the "Macedonian Jerusalem."
Lake Ohrid, often referred to as "Macedonia’s freshwater sea," boasts crystal-clear waters and a unique ecosystem, making it one of Europe’s largest biological reserves. The festival promises to be a memorable experience, filled with performances, workshops, and opportunities to connect with fellow culture enthusiasts.
