Jan Fitze, the well-known SRF host, is embracing new adventures both professionally and personally. At 41, Fitze is navigating the joys and challenges of fatherhood for the first time. Four months ago, his greatest journey began with the birth of his daughter, Lily Lotta.
Currently, Fitze is on a five-week road trip with his family, traveling from Switzerland across the Balkans to Greece in their camper van. This trip marks Lily's first adventure, and Fitze proudly shares, "It's going wonderfully so far. She's already a little adventurer and super cool. And when she smiles at me, she really wraps me around her little finger."
Fitze's experiences with children aren't new; he's well-prepared thanks to his show "SRF bi de Lüt - Fitze nimmt," where he has previously taken care of children. Reflecting on his new role, he says, "I was very well trained with my shows and knew what I had to do. Now I am very happy that I like being a father so much and that I enjoy it, because as a freedom-loving person I had a certain amount of respect for this very big task." His fatherly antics are currently focused on jokes and making faces, bringing entertainment even to his young daughter.
Professional Ventures
While Fitze is enjoying his European journey with his family, he remains active in his professional life. He's featured in a new SRF show, "Einfach retour," where he embarks on a unique road trip across France, Denmark, and Italy. In this format, Fitze is dropped off in an unknown location with just a sailor's bag, no mobile phone, and 100 euros. His mission is to make his way back to Zurich within seven days, a journey full of unexpected turns and challenges.
The show, which airs on July 17, 19, and 24 on SRF 1, showcases Fitze's resourcefulness and adaptability. He is accompanied by video journalist Lukas Zumstein, who originally conceived the format. Fitze recounts, "I'm accompanied by video journalist Lukas Zumstein. He's had the idea for this format for a long time, where he can drop me off somewhere," adding with a laugh, "But he cursed his idea early on. How I travel on and where I can stay overnight is 100 percent left to chance and therefore impossible to plan." The spontaneity of finding a place to sleep each night added an unpredictable element to the filming process.
