Saim Sadiq’s first feature film “Joyland” has been making Pakistan proud throughout the year. The film made it to prestigious Cannes film festival and not just that, it also received standing ovation and bagged the award of film jury prize in the category of Un Certain Regard. The film recently also made it to the Toronto international film festival (TIFF) and was given a standing ovation there as well.
The story of “Joyland” revolves around a boy falling in love with a trans, and with such a taboo subject, it was to be seen whether the film will ever get a release in its own homeland? Well, the news is that the film is all ready to release after acquiring the censor certificates. Saim, while speaking to Pakistani Cinema correspondent, confirmed that the film has been cleared by all censor boards and is now ready to release.
Recently a local publication shared the news that the film might release on November 24 but Saim Sadiq on being inquired about the news told that the film will release on November 18 and the announcement will be made in a week through an official poster release. Read More…
