Jurassic World breaks Guinness World Record for fastest film to make $1bn at box office
Jurassic World just keeps breaking records.
Not only did Steven Spielberg’s dinosaur drama have the most successful opening weekend ever, but it’s now become the fastest film to make $1 billion (£650 million) at the box office.
According to the Guinness World Records, the latest installment in the Jurassic Park saga made a billion across the world in just 13 days.
Jurassic World, which cost movie bosses $150million to make, follows on 20 years after the original film and sees John Hammond’s dreams for the island to be turned into a theme park finally realised.

The film, which stars Chris Pratt, is the third movie to make a billion this year, Fast & Furious 7 and Avengers: Age of Ultron also managed to reach the mark, although neither did it as quickly as Jurassic World.
Its incredible success is the latest indication of what may turn out to be a blockbuster year at the cinema, particularly with the new installment of the Star Wars saga, The Force Awakens, due to be released in December.
